We Built a Bridge!

We built a real physical bridge. If you had told me a few years ago, well even a few months ago that one way for us to reach out to girls in a meaningful way would include building bridges, I would have laughed. Laughter coming from looking down on myself of course and believing some things are not for us to do.

A few months ago, we walked into a community wanting to build a high school and found out that one of the biggest hindrances for young girls to access primary education was lack of a proper bridge in the community. So, we paused our school building project to build a bridge that has been a gift to the whole community.

Wouldn't it be weird to just go ahead with a project we deemed needed in the community when they had an even deeper one that was a primary need? The great part about this is that, the success of this project is the foundation of our next one, 'the school'.

Watch the bridge building process below:

The community is so grateful for this project. Students are glad they get to go to school safely, farmers are happy to ferry crops and manure across easily, the elderly, the sick, the pregnant are excited for easy access to social services. Bicycle Taxi guys are happy to transport their customers easily and so are cows that ferry oxcarts. We are grateful to be a part of another life transforming project, not just for the girls, but a whole community.
